We are 3!

I can't believe we hit the big 3!!!!  We had a fabulous day fishing, eating and opening gifts!!!  The boys really enjoyed the fish after we caught them and put them in a bucket.  The loved all their gifts and have played with everything since Saturday.  Every morning they call to me "Mommy, I want out!" and run out of their room to play with their new toys all over again.  I think they are afraid that they are going to go away while they are sleeping.

We had a speech development screen at school on Monday and came up lacking in a couple of areas.  Both had very good pronunciation and were very good at the language to communicate their needs but they both struggled in expressive/receptive language according to the screener.  Since they were judged on all 3 year olds (and they had been 3 for one day) there is a good chance they just need to grow up a bit and it might improve.  After speaking with our pediatrician about the concerns with the screen we have decided to take them in for more testing.  We had the option of waiting and seeing if they improved, or just taking them in.  I feel like they have improved soooo much but I would rather be safe than sorry.  So, I made them appointments today and we don't even get in the door until the end of Oct. so we will see if we still feel like they need more help.

Boys had great weight and height today.  Christian weighted in at 33 pounds 8 oz (72%) and was 38 inches tall (65%) and had a BP of 80/60 (very good).  Brock weighted in at 33 pounds, 6 oz (70 %) and was also 38 inches (65%) and had a BP of 82/60 (also very good).  They looked GREAT to our pediatrician and she was very pleased.

We are having so much fun with the boys lately and have really enjoyed seeing them grow and become little boys.  We are working on potty training.... uggg.  We have quite a bit of work still to go but they are doing pretty good with #1 :)

I anticipate us starting our house this week!  We are finally approved with the board and are just getting some final answers from our grading people answered (hopefully today).  Let the real work begin :)

Brandon has been traveling quite a bit for work and is gone again tomorrow overnight.  The boys and I usually do pretty well while he is gone but they are sure happy when he gets home.  Last week was pretty tough on us since I had tweaked my back out and Brandon was traveling all week.  Yikes!

The boys are SOOOO into Cars the movie these days and I think we have watched it more times than I can count.  It is very cute how much they love lighting McQueen and the crowd.

Summer Fun (and Heat!)

I have been such a terrible blogger!  Life is moving at FULL speed around here!!!  We sold our house and had to move in less than two weeks from the end of escrow.  We packed up, hired movers/storage, moved out of our storage unit, turned off all our utilities and got it all done in time!  Four days later, I had a work closing and move for our Weatherford property.  I spent a fabulous weekend in Austin with my girlfriends while dad watched the munchkins and when I got home it was time to prep for Sara's new baby.  She was on bed rest for a couple of weeks and Caleb made his exciting arrival on July 2.  He is so cute!

The boys are so verbal these days.  Brock and Christian both have such a wonderful sense of humor and think so many things are funny.  Watch what you say around these two these days since they will repeat it to you or say it again later.  Brock just recently tried to put mommy in time out for play hitting daddy.  "mommy, no hitting!  Timeout.  Say your sorry."  Christian is so polite and says please and thank you all the time and is so good about his morning "good morning mommy" and is quick to say "i love you and sorry"  What a blessing.

They are both so into the movie Cars and Lightning McQueen and all the character.  They love to play with their cars, fight over cars, run around, play with balls, trains, and everything BOY!  I absolutely can not believe they are turning 3 at the end of the month!!!  Where did the time go?  They are going to have a party at school and a fish fry here (just with family).  Mom is just not up to a bunch of three year olds this year.

We have been spending lots of time in the water since it is so hot this summer!  Boys are in swim lessons on Friday at my parent's club pool and they have been doing so well.  Christian who pretty scared of the water has Ben as an instructor and he now loves the water and goes willingly with Ben for his lesson (a huge step).  We have also been spending time on the boat which we all love.  The boys  seem to fall asleep in the boat every time we ride which we love :)  Since they are no longer napping at home, we take any sleeping break we can get!

We are "working" on potty training without pushing them at all.  Once we tried to push Christian he reverted and would not go in the bathroom without crying.  We have tried to ease up on our pushing and he is doing much better again.  Brock can stay dry all day as long as you take him to the potty many many times throughout the day.  He is so much better at school than at home.  Looks like we have something to work on this weekend :)

Mom's B-day cake is all gone... who ate it??

The boys put their school sleep mats on the floor at home.  So cute.

It was raining on the way to school.

Christian loves it when I play with his hair.  He looks so cute!

We have been soooo busy around here!  Over Easter we had my Grandparents visit and then two weeks later we had the aunts visit!!!  What a fun family time for all.  The boys have Easter egg hunted (twice), loved post-Easter brunch, been to church to see their new friends lots and learning LOTS of new words and phrases.  Brandon and I left at the end of April for Costa Rica for a fun wedding for Brandon's friend Matt Petka.  Brandon's parents and grandma Barefoot watched the boys while we were away.  Thank you all!!!  Brandon and I had a very fun get away and a much needed relaxation time in the sun.

Plans on the house are done and permit are in to the city of Fort Worth.  We are thinking maybe 4 weeks to break ground.  Yeah!  Let's just hope we can get our house sold soon.  Lots of prayers for that!  Boy are still loving school, making new friends and learning new letters (worked on M last week), new phrases... (sean paul did it!) new songs, (baby shark, five little monkeys) and contracting new illnesses (strep for C and sinus infection for B).

We are still loving being at the ranch and the boys couldn't love living next to Grady any more.  I also love living near family and all the help from everyone is a blessing.
