What a fun month we have had with the babies this month. They are really turning into little me. Brock is all over the place and can no stand on his own sometimes and Christian is all over the furniture moving about. Nothing is safe in our house :) We take C in for his pre-op surgery apt. tomorrow morning and then meet with the developmental ped.'s office tomorrow afternoon. He has his surgery scheduled for next Wed. in the morning. Brandon and I are dreading it but I know it is for the best.
This weekend we have a low-key weekend planned and I just can't believe my little men are turning ONE next week! Really, where did the time go?!? What a pleasure it has been having them in our lives for a whole year. What did we ever do without the munchkins?!?

Hi- We have been SOOOOO busy around the Barefoot house and haven't had time to blog. I will run through really fast what we have been up too. All of June, Brandon was in and out with work so the boys and I had lots of alone time. We made it through and Brandon and I took our first alone trip over July 4th to Maui. We had a great time, some much needed fun in the sun, but also really missed the guys too. Brandon's parents, grandma Pearl and Aunt Kris all spent time with the guys while we were gone and you can just tell the boys had a great time!

We got back from our trip and had a doc apt with C last week for his "stress induced fat pads" that developed during his NICU stay. Our plastic surgeon will do the surgery on 7/28 (his b-day poor little guy) and remove the pads. It is day surgery so we should be home in the afternoon.
The boys made lots of leaps and bounds while we were gone. B now says mama :) He is cruising all over furniture and could "out crawl" me in a competition. C is more comfortable on his tummy and can also cruise furniture. He will not crawl right now so we are just not sure if that is a skill he is going to do right now. He loves to "walk" when you hold his hands. They are turning into little men before our very eyes :)

Super Busy Mom = Bad Blogger

Christian and mom's new night time ritual.

Well I don't think life is ever going to slow down. Brandon is on his 5th trip this month today and that equates to one busy momma. The boys are doing well and surviving the Texas heat from their first real summer. We have had to cut out our daily walks since the boys (and us) were getting so hot. So, we try to take them in their baby pool a few times a week, in the real pool with mom and dad and their new thing, the gym. The gym has a daycare for parents who are working out and we have gone a few times with the boys... so far so good. It is air conditioned (yeah) has toys and a couple of nice ladies. I try to go on "off times" so the boys get more attention.

We had a play date today with Lauren and Chole Newby, very fun and have Anderson coming in next weekend with Brooke and Donnie. The boys will have TONS of fun before mom and dad jet off on their first vacation without the twins. I am very anxious, excited, scared and sad all at the same time for our trip. Brandon's parents have wonderfully agreed to come and stay with the twins so I know they will be in great hands.

We have been terrible at taking pictures lately since I am home with them by myself quite a bit these day, finding picture opportunities is low on the list. I included one we took this week on Brandon's phone. Since C doesn't get a little snapper on his night time walk anymore we have started to cuddle at night. He takes a little snooze and I get a cuddle. Lovely.
Brock is a crazy man these days. He is scooting, pulling up, and walking around furniture these days. We try all day to keep him safe and in one area. He has bumped his head, has a bump on his nose and did the splits by mistake last night. He is so active! He LOVES to explore, eat ANYTHING and be the center of attention. He gets bored very quickly and loves to torment his brother. His new favorite game is opening and closing his mouth over and over and then screaming in delight. LOTS of screaming from him around here. He is not into cuddling or being held but is really into trying out his new chompers on things, including mom.
Christian is still the sweetest baby on the planet. He is currently very happy sitting and playing with toys. He still HATES his tummy but loves to stand and hold on to tables or the couch or the jumper. He is so proud of himself when he is standing up! He laughs and laughs and laughs at his brother. He really loves to eat right now and is still a wonderful sleeper. He also loves his walker. Since he isn't mobile yet, we put him in his walker and he holds out both arms and runs around the house. He chases kitties, zooms down the hall and always comes back to Brock and just smiles and laughs. He is such a cutie.
We have the weekend to ourselves this weekend and I might try to take them to run an errand tomorrow (somewhere kid friendly) and then get ready for dad to come home for his first Father's Day!!!
The boys just LOVE daddy and love to ride on his shoulders, play and be boys with him. We will all be excited to see him on Sunday.
Happy Father's Day to all the dad, grandpa's and great grandpa's out there!!! You all deserve gold stars for your role in your children's lives :)

Hand Foot and Mouth Virus

B
Well we arrived home on Sat. night from our beach trip to have TWO VERY unhappy babies on Tuesday. Since this is not their normal personality we thought they were still just tired from our trip. On Wednesday morning we go the boys up and Brock felt really hot to me. We took his temperature and sure enough he was sick. His fever was 102.6 and when I took C's it was about 100.6. We called the doctor, rearranged our day and made a visit. Both boys had hand, foot and mouth virus and had blisters in the back of their throat and high fevers. Most likely they caught it at the airport since that was about the time infection would have occurred.

Wednesday night they were pretty sick and then Thursday, mom got something too! Yikes! Sick mom, sick babies and one sad husband. We all seemed to mostly recover by the weekend and were able to have the Crimmon's and their daughter Erin over on Monday for memorial day. We set up a canopy in the backyard with the super play yard underneath and let the boys play outside.

Besides a small runny nose for C, we are all feeling better :) We went up to Aaron and Elizabeth Koury's new house yesterday and they were so wonderful to have us and the boys. The boys loved exploring the new space.

We have already been very busy this week and will start Brandon's month of travel next week. The boys and I will spend some seriously quality time together in June as Brandon travels for work and pleasure.

C is sitting up these day VERY well and loves to stand and play with toys. He has 4 teeth and loves to nibble on your hand. B is scooting, rolling and SOOOO close to crawling. He is up on all hands and knees and rocks back and forth. He is such a wiggle worm these days and you are NOT able to control the little man. There is still quiet of bit of tug of war for the toys and mom and dad's time. B has 2 teeth and a LOT of drool.

The pictures above were of our May photo shoot with Lindsay right before Mother's Day. I love her work and she does such a great job with the boys.

Brock fell asleep on a walk and his wonderful brother didn't wake him up. He just let him sleep on his shoulder. So sweet!

Well we had our first trip with the boys and whew, they were little rascals! On the way to South Carolina the boys rode in a plane with their cousin Grady and Sara and Bryan and Brandon and I. There were 18 rows with two seats on one side and 1 on the either. Brandon and I found out that we couldn't be in the same row or in a row with one seat so we were separated and sat on our completely full flight next to strangers. Yikes, our little guys tormented our seat mates and tried to eat their snacks, take their paper and trow their toys at them. Since Brandon and I both had lap children there was not a lot of things to do with them in the tiny plane.

Well when we finally arrived, got our luggage and car seats, and tracked down a rental car (Dollar had sold our original pre-reserved car to another customer) we got on the road and made it to the beach house in about 45 minutes. The house was beautiful and we put the guys down and drank a well deserved glass of wine :) The next day the boys woke up early and we ate, played (thanks for all the rental toys Nana and Papa). We then took the babies to the hotel near the house and had a wonderful lunch with Sara, Grady and Nana. The boys golfed and the ladies and babies shopped and ate. The boys sat in high chairs and had a great time in the sun! We took the boys home for their naps and nana watched them while two VERY happy daughters laid in the sun at the pool for an hour and a half. Wonderful :) The boys came home and then we put all the babies down and went to dinner with Sara and Bryan. Yummy seafood and great company!

The next day we woke up, fed babies and took the guy shopping and to lunch with my parents. They got to sit in high chairs again this lunch, VERY exciting for them!! We came back to the house and my parents watched them while they "napped" that day. No one slept and they cried and cried. Brandon and I came back and decided if they were not going to sleep then they could just go to the beach! The babies LOVED the surf and sand and were so cute in the water.

Sara let us use her beach cabana which the babies LOVED! It caged them in while we took the other in the water. Yeah! The babies had a great time in the water. They both got scared with the first wave but got more excited the longer we were there. Grady was a great sport and never cried in the water.

We stayed in the last night and just enjoyed. The ride home was really rough... all three babies cried and cried. Everyone on the plane wanted to kill us and shot us all death looks on the ride back. My mom sat by me, so I had it easier than Brandon who was around a poor couple that didn't seem to love children. When we got back to Dallas, they lost our bag. Uggg. The returned it at 1am on Sunday morning to our house... long night since the babies work up at 5 something.
Brandon and I had a great time but decided that we are not going to be taking the babies on a plane for awhile unless we take someone with us, or buy them a seat (at least one for the both of them).
